Let's get to know each other!

You have been warned...

Most of you who are reading this know me in some fashion or manner...those that don't, HEY. You can call me JuIc3, and I've decided to start blogging some things and thoughts and...stuff.

Full disclosure, I can't guarantee you're going to like everything you read. As a matter of fact, I may outright offend you at times. I apologize in advance. You see, the whole reason I'm starting this series of blogs is more for me to share my thoughts and frustrations in a anonymous, safe and 'healthy' way...so again, bear with me as we trot along.

Now then, about me! I'm a 29 year old man who is happily married, owns a car, a home, and has a baby on the way. I teach music for a living...that is to say, I'm a teacher. Oh the things I could say about such a career...but we'll save that for another day.

If you couldn't tell from my profile picture and header image, I'm what you would call an otaku...or for you more mild mannered types, a freaking nerd. "*GASP* A GROWN MAN WHO ENJOYS ANIME???" why yes, yes I do. I actually have lots of dorky hobbies, including playing and writing about video games (my roots come from Destructoid, where I once was a contributor and community manager).

I obviously enjoy the more 'real' things too - I follow politics fairly closely (who doesn't these days), and I'm a huge sports fan of my Kansas City/Missouri teams. Oh right, I am from the absolutely...wonderful, state of Missouri. I love my barbecue, and I will fight anyone who dares to argue that Arthur Bryants isn't the greatest restaurant known to mankind.

God that's a lovely image...oh shit, I'm getting distracted again! So yes, I am a public educator. I'm very passionate about music education, and the role that it plays in society. "JuIc3, if you are so darn passionate about music, why are you blogging anonymously?" well that's just the thing - there is no such thing as safety in public opinion as a professional. As a matter of fact, I will have days where I will rant about the public education system, the role that teachers play in life, and the lack of professionalism in the work environment (at least, based on my own personal experiences). Needless to say, I prefer to voice my thoughts anonymously, because it's the only way I feel I can comfortably share my true opinion without the worries of having students/parents hunt me down with fire and pitchforks.

That being said, I do have a good life. I have a loving wife who is very supportive of me and my hobbies. I have 2 lovely cats that I absolutely adore and couldn't imagine living without. I have a son/daughter on the way in October, and I'm absolutely thrilled to share that. I recently obtained a job in my home town, working for the district that taught me everything. Not only is this a plus for us being close to family, but I'll be making even more $$$, as this is the biggest school district I have worked for yet.

So yeah...I think that just about wraps up my introductory blog. Have any other questions? Don't be afraid to share in the comments below. Seriously, I won't bite. I'm just trying some new things out and seeing if it helps me to keep my head above the water.

Until next time!
